MCSE Course For Employment Perks

There are various courses necessary for the seven exams a candidate must take in order to be certified. There are locations world wide and even on the internet as well as practice exams to take after you have finished the courses in order to prepare for the exams. Prerequisites for all courses are one year experience in designing infrastructure and one year each of implementing both network and desktop operating systems.

Microsoft MCSE Courses: There are five core exams necessary, one is a design exam and one is an operating system exam and another is a networking exam. While there are some online courses available, Microsoft has specific locations in the US and across the world to take both courses and exams in person. These are instructor led courses and should be valuable for preparing for the exams.

These courses are taught by MCT's (Microsoft Certified Trainers) and are available in several different forms: A classroom environment which is led by the MCT and lasts from 1-3 days, distance learning which lasts 2-5 weeks with 4-10 sessions, and E-learning which are courses that you can take at your own pace in a virtual laboratory. Also, if necessary there are courses in each section that are concerned with updating knowledge if you have already gotten certified.

However, it must be noted that there are not distance and E-learning classes available for all of the courses, so you must take that into consideration. In addition, there are books and practice exams that you can use to prepare for the exams.

The networking courses begin with the basics which are covered in Course 2151, this includes how to manage files and configure Windows 2000 among other basics. In Course 2152 the student learns more about Windows Pro and servers. This includes installation and configuration of Windows Pro, Printing, and configuration and managing disks, in addition to learning more about clients and servers and configuring mobile computers. These courses prepare one for exam 70-215 installing, configuring and administering Windows 2000 server. There are two other networking courses that teach implementing MS Windows infrastructure and administering MS Windows directory services. Both of these are five day courses.

The design courses offers five courses that run from 3-5 days and include designing various aspects such as security infrastructure, a security enhanced network, directory infrastructure and network infrastructure. Even though only one of these courses are necessary they all cover very important aspects of systems engineering that one is able to specialize in. Exam 70-226- "Designing Highly Available Web Solutions with MS Windows Server Technologies", which may count either toward an elective exam or a core exam (not both), at this time doesn't have courses or practice exams. This is also true for several other exams also.

The client operating systems courses run 2, 3 or 5 days and prepare one for one exam that must be chosen out of the group listed. Courses 2151 & 2152 are repeated because they prepare you for two different exams that cover installation, configuration and administration of Windows 2000 Professional (1 exam) and installation, configuration and administration of Windows 2000 Server.

The elective courses prepare you to take any two exams that allow you to specialize in certain areas. These run from 2-5 days and cover a variety of topics of interest to most anyone.

Whether you are wanting do work with servers and or work in a large company and handle their network of computers or are just looking for an easier way to get promoted where you are presently working, the MCSE certificate is a great way to get recognized as a professional systems engineer.
