Microsoft MCSE Exam Tips

Passing Microsoft exams are essential to becoming certified as an MCSE or any other certified professional. They provide courses and practice exams to assist each student in preparing for the exam. They have been using two independent testing centers for all of their certification exams and have even begun using simulation in order to more accurately test each individual's knowledge accurately. In addition, there is exam insurance that will cover the cost of a re-exam should you not pass the first time around.

MCSE Exam: Microsoft's certification is highly prized in the business world these days. However, in order to get a MCSE certification you must pass seven exams which are preceded by much study in the MCSE courses and the practice exams.

Exam tips:

Preparing for the exams: As with each course, each exam has objectives that are being tested and this is the information that you should study beforehand. It is also important that you use only Microsoft press books to prepare for the test. They are responsible only for what they include in both the exam preparation texts and the test itself. They are constantly striving for quality testing material.

During the exams: If a section of the test is times then you won't be able to return to it in order to finish any unanswered questions.

If you can't remember an answer then mark it and come back to it after you have finished the other answers, don't waste your time trying to remember the first answer before you have even tried to answer any of the others.

Pace yourself and use all of the available time for a section. This will ensure that you don't rush through a section and risk skipping a question that you knew the answer to.

Don't worry about getting answers wrong, points are not reduced because of a wrong answer, only positive scores are counted.

Notes about scores: The passing score is 700, and each test is weighed differently. The lengths of the bar scores have do not reflect individual answers, only the weight of the total test score.

New Testing Method:

Microsoft has begun using simulation testing in place of some of its skills tests in order to more accurately test various skills. These simulation tests are combined with the usual testing methods in the certification process. This has greatly increased the value of certification from the perspective of future or present employers. Most of the testing centers have adopted this new method of testing.

A few of the main positive points in using the simulation testing methods are:

Testers are forced to know how to perform a particular skill and not just answer questions concerning it. Therefore, in preparing for the test they are concerned with their ability to do it rather than know about it. In having done it and been tested about their ability to do it they have more confidence in doing it later and the employer can be assured that they can do it with confidence.

Another benefit is that they have worked the simulations in with some of the traditional testing methods so that the test does not take much more time than it used to, thus everyone concerned gets more out of the test and the test more accurately determines the ability of the person.

These simulation tests have been available for some tests since 2003 and other test simulations have been added in 2005.

So in closing the exams have been studied and have been made as accurate as possible thereby improving their intrinsic value, both to the student and to his employer. Preparation for these exams is essential and with enough proper preparation a student should be able to pass the test and be certain that it accurately determined his qualifications.
